Masseuse charged with prostitution

Police say a Schaumburg woman employed as a masseuse in Algonquin was arrested Friday for offering more than just a massage to an undercover officer.

Mary D. Cores, 43, of the 500 block of Summit Drive, was charged with one count of prostitution for an incident police say occurred Friday morning at World Health Spa in Algonquin.

In response to several complaints about the business, an undercover male officer booked an appointment for a massage at the establishment on 1445 W. Algonquin Road, Algonquin Deputy Chief Steve Kuzynowski said.

At 11:10 a.m., Cores offered to perform a sex act in exchange for $70, Kuzynowski said.

Police declined to give additional information about the incident or discuss the nature of complaints, citing the ongoing investigation.

McHenry and Woodstock are running similar investigations that resulted in arrests as well, he said.

Police don't have the authority to shut it down because World Spa obtained its license from the state, Kuzynowski said. The state is responsible for revoking its license.

Attempts to reach World Spa were unsuccessful, as the phone line was busy.

Cores was released from jail after posting $150 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 15 in Woodstock.

Prostitution is a Class A misdemeanor that carries a prison sentence up to 364 days and a maximum fine of $2,500.
